Steven Boorstein had a stroke in 2008 when he was 46 years old. He is an avid athlete, so much of his account is about returning to various activities he did prior to the stroke. 14 other survivors and several caregivers contribute their stories, emphasizing that every stroke is different.

“Identity Theft: Rediscovering Ourselves After Stroke”

In 2010, at the age of 53 years old, Meyerson had a stroke. A professor at Stanford University, she initially struggled to find her words and was forced to develop a new identity. In addition to sharing her own experiences, she presents stories from 25 survivors, and some are even from St. Louis, Missouri.

“Stroke Recovery Stories”

This book features eight “mini-books” of stroke survivors. Some of these survivors ask their spouses or children to make contributions. This account reminds the reader that while strokes are unique to every individual, there are common themes that unite all survivors together.
